WatchWatch
This little vid. is a purdy way to soak up some virtual vitamin D and keep from getting too SAD. (It’s part of an eposodic documentary titled EVERYONE FOREVER NOW  - an exploration of “the collective wisdom inherent in everyday human behavior.” The one on stoop sitting is also neat…)

“Munro Leaves Giller to Others Recent Man Booker International Prize winner and two-time Giller winner Alice Munro, 78, has withdrawn her just-released story collection TOO MUCH HAPPINESS from consideration for the 2009 Giller prize. The Forgotten Dialect Of The Heart by Jack Gilbert
How astonishing it is that language can almost mean, and frightening that it does not quite. Love, we say, God, we say, Rome and Michiko, we write, and the words get it all wrong. Clarice Lispector, Eu te amo →
As a bona fide Lispectorphile, I obviously can’t wait to read the new Lispector biography by Benjamin Moser—and this New York Times review makes me all the more antsy.    Luckily The Faster Times procured me a review copy, and I’ll be devouring it and offering up my opinion soon. Meanwhile, to curb my appetite, I think I’ll munch on The Apple in the Dark.

The Most Expensive Jasmine Controversy
The Independant wrote this: “This year, some perfume enthusiasts had feared that new regulations from the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), which come into effect next January, would spell the end of Chanel No. 5. The use of natural jasmine will, for the first time, be restricted in all perfumes to 0.7 per cent of the finished product, to ensure that wearers have no allergic...

Power Embodied: A POETICS FOR BULLIES by Stanley...
You must read it. (And when you are done, pause, regroup, and read this interview.) A Poetics For Bullies by Stanley Elkin I’m Push the bully, and what I hate are new kids and sissies, dumb kids and smart, rich kids, poor kids, kids who wear glasses, talk funny, show off, patrol boys and wise guys and kids who pass pencils and water the plants- and cripples, especially cripples. I love...
